The assistant quoted last year’s price

A client needs a price fast. The assistant answers in seconds, from a presentation you suspect is out of date.

The situation

A client asks for a price. Your assistant answers in seconds and cites a sales presentation from the shared drive. You remember that prices changed in March.

Principles involved

What do you do?

Choose the option you would take, then open it to see how it plays out. Reviewing the other options is part of the exercise.

Option A: Send it. The client is waiting.

Risky

If the price is old, you’ve made a commitment your company may have to honor or retract. Neither looks good.

Option B: Ask the assistant to double-check its answer.

Part of the answer

It may find the new price, or it may confidently repeat the old one. Asking the same system again isn’t verification.

Option C: Find the current price list, quote from it, and ask the owner of the old presentation to update or archive it.

The best choice

You answer correctly, and you fix the source so the next person and the next AI get it right.

Option D: Stop using the assistant for prices.

Safe, but it costs you

Understandable, but fixing the stale file keeps the useful help and removes the risk.
